2/28/2014  The Color of Hip Hop closes out Black History Month 2014 at the Victory Grill.

2/26/2014 Growing the Tradition recognition event held at Stateside at the Paramount.  Artists and businesses are honored for their contribution to Austin’s urban music scene and willingness to mentor and work with local talent.  Honorees included Cooley Girls, DJ Lil Ron, KAZI, and Smackola.

2/17/2014 Blues, Beer & Burgers at the Victory Grill in honor of military personnel.

2/5/2014 Creative Mix Up Happy Hour with Austin Creative Alliance at the Spiderhouse.

11/16-24/2013 – Capitol View Arts sponsors artists to participate in the East Austin Studio Tour.  The historic Victory Grill is transformed into an art gallery presenting the artists’ work.  Capitol View Arts also sponsors an afterparty music event.  Participating artists and musicians include AJ Simon, Baron Wilson, Bianca Neal, Lys Santamaria, Terry Barnes, Dustin Schiable, Mo McMorrow, Derrick Harris and students from Austin CAN Academy.  Musical guests include Mo McMorrow, Lady Shacklin, Sonya Jevette, Bobbi Jean Griffin, Marla LainaBuonodono, and John Wilson.

11/17/2013 – Capitol View Arts and the Huston Tillotson Elite Combo musicians participate in Austin’s F1 FanFest in downtown Austin.

10/26/2013  Laina Dawes, author of What Are You Doing Here? A Black Woman’s Life and Liberation in Heavy Metal, shares about personal experiences and the highs…and the lows….of writing about race, gender, and extreme music.

10/4-6/2013  Capitol View Arts in partnership with Creative Director, SaulPaul, produce “Urban Austin”  for Houston Fringe Fest.  Participating musicians include Sean Showalter, Tyrone Gordon, and Carlos Charles.  The production is awarded special recognition with a “Future of the Fringe”  award.

Banner resize9/26-28/2013  Capitol View Arts travels with an entourage of 24 urban artists and support staff to the 2013 Cutting Edge Music Festival in New Orleans, LA.  Participants attend the educational seminars at the conference and have numerous performance engagements during the festival.  Artists featured:Huston Tillotson Elite Combo, BillieB, Cj the Best, Young Nick, Loose Cannon, SaulPaul, and Joel Laviolette & Rattletree Marimba.

9/21/2013  Capitol View Arts participates in Kris Keyz Community BBQ at Pease Park.  Numerous artists that work with Capitol View Arts perform.

3/1/2013 – Serafia Jane performs at the opening of the African-American Cultural and Heritage Facility.

2/28/2013 – Growing the Tradition recognition event.  Six artists and businesses are honored for their contribution to Austin’s hip hop scene and willingness to mentor and work with local talent.  Honorees included Black Mike, DJ Hella Yella, MusicMania, OG Fatal, Tosin, and Gerald G.

2/27/2013 – The Color of Hip Hop featuring Josh, KJ Hines, Anya, Elles Infanit, D.R.O.I.D., and Kicks and Khords.

2/18/2013 – A special military tribute night held on President’s Day.  Serafia Jane and the ATX-ellence band perform for free in honor of our service personnel.

2/14/2013 – A special night of Slow Jams for Valentine’s Day.  Dinner show with Austin’s up and coming jazz and r&b artists. 

2/13/2012 - Copyright for Artists presented in partnership with Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts.

2/3/2013 – Capitol View Arts and Holy Souljaz Entertainment present First Sunday Gospel Showcase featuring The Levites, Natori Blue, E Major, Livin Epistlez, and FBC Klik!

2/20/2012 – Meet Geno Young educational workshop.  Geno Young, artistic director for Eryka Badu, shares career advice and tips to Austin musicians.

2/19/2012 – Down Home Gospel Music featuring Chris Spivey and Nu Destiny performing traditional and contemporary gospel songs.

2/18/2012 – Young, Black and Gifted:  Welcoming Everyone to the Table featuring traditional blues artists, LZ Love, East Side Blues Syndicate, and the Peterson Brothers.

2/17/2012 – Music is My Genre featuring 6 up and coming hip hop and rock acts, Drastik, Strawberry JAM,  ParknMurray, Part 2, Another Run, and Anya.

11/12-20/2011 – Capitol View Arts sponsors minority artists to participate in the East Austin Studio Tour.  The historic Victory Grill is transformed into an art gallery presenting the artists’ work.  Capitol View Arts also sponsors music events on the weekend nights of the Tour.  Participating artists and musicians included Lucas Negrate, Mark Zuazua, Rick Osborne, Mr. Siego or Blindside Tattoos, Juan Martinez, Melissa Phillips, Dave Lowell, Glaxta, Grinnasty, Quinten Moore, Drastik, Invincible Czars, Gina Chavez, DJ Charlie, Mos of Crew 54, DJ S.T.A.T.I.K., DJ Casey Cuts, and DJ Shade Moonbeam.
